Since 1956, It Is Written has been opening God’s Book—the Bible—to present topics that challenge and inspire. From award-winning, on-location programs to fascinating studio interviews, this series explores Christian lifestyle, mission reports, history, inspirational stories, theology, and more.

Why did they say no? "And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the wise answered, saying, 'No.'" - Matthew 25:8-9

In spite of themselves. They said, “He saved others; Himself He cannot save. If He be the King of Israel, let Him now come down from the cross, and we will believe Him.” - Matthew 27:42

Thirty-five years later! “Let your speech always be gracious.” - Colossians 4:6

It simply wasn't true. “If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” - John 8:31-32

Three Felonies a day?! “I delight to do Your will, O my God, and Your law is within my heart.” - Psalm 40:8

No matter how hard you try! "For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find." - Romans 7:18

She left him there! “And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a girl named Rhoda came to answer. When she recognized Peter’s voice, because of her gladness she did not open the gate..." - Acts 12:13-14

We need it. But... “But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’ ” - Genesis 3:3

Not telling? "So he, trembling and astonished, said, 'Lord, what do You want me to do?' Then the Lord said to him, 'Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.'" - Acts 9:6

Do you stop to consider... “Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?” - Acts 9:4

"All the deeper hurt." “And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.” - Acts 9:5

Celebrate what God has given you. “And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.” - Matthew 25:15

Don't worry about how much you have. “Unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.” - Matthew 25:15

Think about that... “For the kingdom of heaven is as a man traveling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.” - Matthew 25:14

What can He do? “But although He had done so many signs before them, they did not believe in Him.” - John 12:37

Stormy seas? ”You rule the raging of the sea. When its waves rise, You still them.” - Psalm 89:9

God will always use it. “And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.” - Acts 5:42

The reason is predictable. "O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for You; My flesh longs for You in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water." - Psalm 63:1

There are times our faith is tested. "'Even if I have to die with You, I will not deny You!' And so said all the disciples." - Matthew 26:35

He's not about to change His mind. “Unto you first God, having raised up His Son Jesus, sent Him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.” - Acts 3:26

It was God! “Men of Israel, why do you marvel at this? Or why look so intently at us, as though by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk?” - Acts 3:12

They asked a deep question. “Men and brethren, what shall we do?” - Acts 2:37

It's important now. “And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.” - Acts 2:40

The fact is... “For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” - John 3:17

None of them are good. “When pride comes, then comes shame; But with the humble is wisdom.” - Proverbs 11:2

He found it! “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.” - Psalm 23:1

1% Christian! “And should I not pity Nineveh, that great city…” - Jonah 4:11

They’re heading home. “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’” - Isaiah 41:10

One step at a time. “As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him.” - Colossians 2:6

How do YOU do? “But Jesus answered and said, “Permit even this.” And He touched his ear and healed him.” - Luke 22:51
